BET Hip-Hop Awards Recap "Where was 'Ye??"
Although nominated for nine awards,Kanye West was a no-show at the 2009 BET Hip Hop Awards.
Besides the few cue-card problems from comedian host Mike Epps, the BET Hip Hop Awards ran quite Niiceee(Fab Voice) I heard.
Not Scheduling to air towards the end of October, fans will have to wait and see Brooklyn's own Jay-Z take home the MVP of the Year Award, newcomer Drake (who was also not in attendance also) win Rookie of the Year, still imprisoned TI was awarded best collaboration, and the late DJ AM was given the DJ of the Year Award.
On top of the awards, rap legends Ice Cube and Missy Elliott were given special honors.
Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane(The 6th Hottest MC in the game right now according to MTV) seemed to be the star of the night as he took part in three different performances: “Pretty Girls” with Wale(my favorite song out right now), “Break Up” with Mario, and “Gucci Bandana.”
The awards show began and ended with noteworthy performances from Young Jeezy, Jay-Z, and Goodie Mob. Young Jeezy and Jay-Z opened with “Real As It Gets” while Goodie Mob closed out the show with “Cell Therapy” and “Get Rich To This.”
